’BRUTE’ is a experimental documentary film that explores the symbolic and cultural dimensions of the traditional balkan bullfight, the korida. in contrast to its spanish counterpart, the fight is bloodless, with the bulls engaging in a fierce but non-lethal stalemate. the play questions the nature of violence by contrasting the restraint of the bulls with the brutality of human conflict, particularly the ethnic and religious tensions that have plagued the balkans. by challenging but not killing each other, BRUTE suggests a potential for reconciliation that goes beyond the human capacity for peace.
